WindShear

Overview

Once upon a time something crashed through the Mists. It hit hard and loudly before coming to a rest among a forested area. There the craft sat and slowly the grasses and cobwebs grew over it. And it's sat there until now, silently waiting with softly blinking lights to be reactivated.

History

While certainly no old timer nor a youngster by any stretch of the imagination, WindShear is a mech with plenty knowledge but who still has much to learn. He hailed from the small merchant city of QuadraSector on the Transformers homeworld of Cybertron. Unfortunately it got blown off the grid several centuries ago and WindShear has been wandering ever since. Before the war raged to his area he was part of a medium size fleet of mechs who worked with a variety of merchants and dealers, transporting goods between the various cities. While the majority of his former colleges have gone into hiding or found other ways to earn energon, Windy has continued on making cargo runs. Now he just does it specifically for the Autobot cause. He does his best to avoid conflict but he's run smuggling deals when the price was right and the situation was worth it. In the Earth year 2015 he traveled to Earth to defend the planet and help deal with the continuing war against the Decepticons. He was on such a mission when a Decepticon experimental weapon hit his caravan . The blast sent him through time and space and he crash landed on the edge of The City. Badly damaged he's been slowly repairing himself and has been largely comatose.

Personality

Like many Autobots WindShear has found himself in the role of a warrior. However he is not too keen on that aspect. He's of the opinion the sooner the war is over, the better. He is careful with his words as a general rule and he can have a slow to rise temper. He is a built listener and will offer advice when asked, or even when he isn't asked. His biggest flaw is his willingness to give some one the benefit of the doubt, even if the creature in question is normally not to be trusted. His trust is not completely blind but it can allow some one the opportunity to stab him in the proverbial back. One strange quirk of this mech is his unique obsession with photography. He captures images of just about anything he finds interesting, especially if no one else does.

Wind is not a pacifist, he'll rumble when needed. He just doesn't want to be a solider but after staying on the sidelines for so long he eventually realized the war wasn't going to end on it's own. He can be a fairly deep thinker and has a healthy sense of humor. He is careful with his words, and rarely lets anything slip by accident. The right words can often get one further than a blaster. He'd much rather convince some one of a point with logic than violence. He also takes his work very seriously and will do all he can to protect any mech or cargo he's hired to haul.

Powers

WindShear is a cybernetic lifeform. He does not need to breathe and unlike most modern era Earth tech he doesn't have issues with water. While he could be harmed by electromagnetic pulses or computer style virus they would have to be epically strong to do so. As a mecha-armor like creature Windy possesses great strength allowing him to fight similar creatures to his weight and size. (Like a modern Tanks or two) He is fairly bullet proof but high grade military weaponry is sufficient to damage and even destroy him. He cannot fly in robot mode but when in aircraft mode he can fly at speeds exceeding 300 mph.

His rotor blades become twin swords which are very strong and sharp. Alien grade metal will slice through most known substances save the most resilient. (Adamantium, Vibranium etc..)

He is capable of scanning other forms and redesigning his form to disguise himself. As a highly sophisticated machine he is often able to hack into other computers and gather information or control them. Cybertronians do age but do so at an incredibly slow rate. He is effectively immortal but he can be killed permanently if his Spark is extinguished. He is capable of repairing himself if he has sufficient energy reserves and near by material to do so.

Windy also possesses a limited supply of weaponry. He carries 6 large missiles and two laser canons that are only available to him in aircraft mode. When these are spent he must buy or physically make replacements.

WindShear has dozens of sensing scanners and devices. He can pick up on radio waves and other energy signatures.

Hologram - WindShear has recently acquired some new holographic technology. This tech comes from the StarTrek universe and is based on the EMH systems. It allows him to control a solid light hologram in the shape of a humanoid. The hologram is able to interact with the world around it just the way a person could. It is generated from a small 2 inch 'pin' that is worn by the hologram. Because it is a hologram and force fields it is vulnerable to EMP and other disruptive energies. Most physical force won't permanently damage the hologram. The use of this system takes up most of Wind's attention thus he usually parks his real body when the hologram is in use. The hologram carries a katanna like sword and a knife. Both are treated like real weapons of high strength steel. If the hologram is disrupted the pin can fall and be damaged or even stolen. The pin has a tracking signal.

Skills

Photography: Oddly enough Windy enjoys taking pictures of things he finds unusual or beautiful. Unfortunately few others seem to find the same things interesting.

Scout: Able to go into stealth mode, WindShear is adept at flying quietly and going into enemy territories undetected. He is programed and well suited to espionage techniques such as surveying, communication tapping / monitoring and tracking.

Brawling: While he is not a warrior built, WindShear is typically good at holding his own against monsters flesh or metal. He has few qualms about using his fists, feet or his twin blades to fell a foe. He's also learned how to play dirty and use anything and everything within reach to aid himself in a dire situation.

Hacking : When you are essentially a living artificial intelligence you instinctively know a great deal about other machines. Calling him a 'machine whisperer' might be a better term than hacker but there are few Earth systems (or many alien ones!) that can withstand his will.

Merchant: In his old life Windy helped merchants carry their cargo from location to location. If he wasn't the one carrying it he was the one protecting it. He's learned some of the ins and outs of haggling, the worth of products and the best ways to move products from distant locations.

Languages: WindShear is fluent in many Earth Languages, Alien Languages and ancient Cybertronian.

Perks

Nothing yet!

Flaws

Energon: While he does not have the same challenges as an organic life form he still has energy needs. If he is not able to absorb enough energon he will not be able to function correctly and can shut down into a coma like state.

Autobot: He proudly wears the insignia. Which puts a huge bullseye on his hull for any one who hates that faction.

Machine: He's a 27ft tall robot. That's going to cause some challenges in a city built for human sized creatures. That and some people just don't like alien robots!

Magic: Machines and magic rarely get along. Areas of strong magical aura can cause strange things to happen to his systems. He can malfunction, shutdown, or other odd things may occur. Magical attacks are especially strong when used against him.

Too Trusting: Psychologically speaking, Windy tries to believe the best of sentient lifeforms. He tries not to be naive but his desire to give everyone a fair shake may end up getting him turned to slag one day.

Stubborn: It's his way or the highway some days. Once Windy has made up his mind he digs in his heels and it will take a near miracle for him to give in or give up.
