Caitlin

Overview

Caitlin was originally part of a project to isolate metahuman genes (along with 12 other children). When her powers became active however, not wanting to be manipulated or to be a lab rat, she ran (with some of the other test subjects). She worked with her team of runaways for some time as she tried to find answers about her past, but got separated from them during a mission. She's now in the City because it's a hub of people with answers and it's somewhere that her teammates are likely to turn up again.

History

  • Caitlin Fairchild was born and grew up in Portland, Oregon raised by her aunt and uncle.
  • At age 16, she was accepted into Princeton University (majoring in Computer Science and Electrical Engineering)
  • One year later, she accepted an internship with Project: Genesis. At this time, she was secretly being drugged by covert organization “IO” (International Operations).
  • Shortly after she began her time at Project: Genesis, she came upon evidence that her father was connected to the Project.
  • While investigating this information, she was attacked by a guard, the experience triggering her (at-the-time) latent powers. In response, she fled the project with several other teens who had also been experimented on.
  • The teens started a team of runaway heroes, trying to stay one step ahead of IO as they go on a series of adventures and look for answers about their pasts.
  • Recently, she's was separated from the team during a combat and with no better way to find the rest of the team again, she headed to the City as it seems to be a place where heroes gather. If they turn up anywhere, they'll be in the City.

Personality

Caitlin went from a life of being a shy and introverted normal person to a life of being chased around by covert organizations while trying to save the world in the body of a statuesque amazon. She never really adjusted. She's a little out of her depth with the things that happen around her and she quietly longs for a more normal life (even if she doesn't mind the powers and looks).

Despite all of the craziness that usually surrounds her, Caitlin herself is very stable. She tries to bring order and logic to the strange situations that surround her and more often than not, her voice is the voice of reason when trouble starts.

Above all else, she tries to be a “good person”, accepting people for exactly who they are and trusting in them (often trusting them too far). She's almost incapable of not helping someone in need and goes out of her way to care for those that she's closest to at the expense of her own needs sometimes.

Powers

Super Strength - Caitlin has significantly enhanced physical strength due to an increased muscle density. This puts her on a level where she can lift up to approximately 100 tons with relative ease.

Invulnerability - While not completely impervious to harm, Caitlin is very resistant. She's bulletproof and can take impacts with relatively no harm coming to her (no bleeding or broken bones and pain is significantly reduced from these effects).

Enhanced Agility and Reflexes - While not the fastest in the world, Caitlin's agility and reflexes are well beyond those of a normal human being. Her reflexes are quick enough that when making the effort, she's able to catch bullets and her agility allows her to perform acts of acrobatics that would be impressive even by the standards of most gymnasts.

Superhuman Constitution - It takes a great deal of work for Caitlin to become physically exhausted. She can maintain strenuous activity for extended periods of time and can do things that would exhaust normal people without even becoming winded.

Skills

Computers - Caitlin had more than a passing familiarity with computers before she got her powers and since that time, she's only been exposed to more complex and unusual systems. As a result, she's an expert with computers that she's dealt with before and gets by even with exotic ones that she's never had any experience with.

Electronics - Similar to her experience with computers, Caitlin knows a lot about electronics and when needed, has skills in repairing and disabling them. Her experience at this point has run from simple home electronics to high end computers and robots.

Leadership - While she might not have originally hoped for a leadership role among her fellow test subjects, Caitlin didn't really have a choice in the matter due to the maturity levels of the others. As a result, Caitlin has a bit of experience with tactics and she knows how to handle people in order to get them to work together.

Genetics - As a result of her need to study what Project: Genesis did to her, Caitlin has done a lot of research into the field of genetics and while not yet the greatest on the subject, she's certainly an expert on the topic and on genetic manipulation in particular.

Perks

At this time, Caitlin has no special perks as she doesn't stay in one place for too long, but she makes friends easily so this won't be a problem forever.

Flaws

Positive - Caitlin puts everything in the best light possible. This can be endearing, but it lands her in hot water more than should even be possible. She trusts people she shouldn't. She goes along with plans that are deeply flawed because she doesn't want to upset anyone and ultimately, she doesn't want to see anyone upset.

Chaos Magnet - For some reason, Caitlin just seems to attract craziness. Super-people tend to get into strange situations. Caitlin's luck seems to draw the craziest of those to the people around her.

Awkward - The change from bookworm to statuesque amazon was strictly a physical change and Caitlin's personality doesn't reflect her physical form. While she's adapted, the nerd inside surfaces occasionally and in certain social situations, she says the wrong thing.

On the Run - Caitlin almost never has any resources to work with on her own. She's got a lot of people after her and as a result, she's often living a double or triple life. This often makes even simple things a challenge.
